I disagree with "list of rooms in an apartment, excluding bathroom and toilet, encoded as a string of digits and letters (e.g. "2DK"
for a two-room apartment with a kitchen/dining area)"
I think what Richard's ref is really saying is that "the 間取り (layout) is often expressed through a code like 2DK", just like this
English language website:
https://blog.gaijinpot.com/what-do-japanese-apartment-layout-terms-mean/
Refers to "2LDK" as "room layout"

I have been avoiding "/" within glosses to stop it upsetting the EDICT formats. It would probably be better to replace "/" with "-" when the EDICT versions are generated, rather than nobble the format that way.
";" remains a problem when it occurs withing a gloss.
