Comments: | In 2006 someone made the following comment: "地下 does not mean any of the above and certainly not "basement" as there aren't any in Japan. It is never used as an "abbreviation" for subway. 地下 is used only in compounds, e.g., 地下商店街 or 地下鉄 (seen everywhere)." I agree for the most part. |
