I don't think "linked form; bound ending" are actually wrong; it's more that they are trying to give short general translations without describing in detail what actually happens with a 係り結び. I think GG5 would have been better including a slightly longer explanation as well, but I guess for most dictionary users it's a minor and arcane term. |

as the kokugos imply, so "linked form; bound ending"
is not accurate.
For example, the 未然形 ending -a is also bound,
