I'm not happy with a new sense arriving like that without a reference or case. I'm tempted to remove it and ask アノニマスさん to resubmit with justification.
That said, I suspect that "huh?" could well belong in sense 2, along with "erm". |

See lengthy discussion on 2119760 (うむ). Quoting what I wrote there for the record:
うむ. GG5 has (1) wh-huh; yeh; yep; yes; all right; (2) hum; hmmm; well. Daijr has 「 うん 」に同じ
ううむ. We have "erm; hurm"
うん. We have "yes; yeah; uh huh". GG5 has (1a) yes; all right; hm! (1b) hum; hmmm; well. (2) a moan; a groan; a grunt (of pain) 中辞典 has "uh-huh; yeh; yes; (all) right; okay; 〈気がつく〉 uh; I see"
ううん. We have (1) no; (2) er, well, ...; (3) groan. GG5 has (1) no; uh-uh; uh-unh. (2) er; hmm; ugh; oof. (3) oh; aha; uh-uh
It seems to me that ううむ, うん and うむ could well be merged. From that leading "no" sense it's hard to see ううん fitting in to a merge.
Merging うむ (2119760) and ううむ (2221890). I'll approve and reopen as I want to set up some xrefs from ううん. |

This way, if someone searches for an exact match on "ん", they won't only find entry 2139720 and wonder why this isn't there.
Alternatively, I suppose entry 2139720 could also have a copy of this entry's sense 2, with a cross-reference here. But I don't think we want ン in the headword over there, since we'd probably have to restrict all the other senses to ん. |
