Probably don't need the second half of the note.
Daijr says "一部の名詞に付いて" for sense 2. |

(a) I don't mind the note on sense 1, but I liked "on adj-stem" for brevity.
(b) possibly a note and xref would help sense 2. |

is the full note necessary on sense 1? seems obvious from the glosses. and doesn't sense 2 (at a minimum) also apply to nouns? |

This is a suffix in all the kokugos.
I suggest dropping sense 3 (which isn't in the kokugos). It's always たがる and we already have an entry for that. |

A month on and no more feedback.
Both those other JEs seem to be backing sense 3. I'll make the note on sense 1 a bit more general. |

I don't think "to represent a third party's apparent
emotion" is entirely correct, but we might want to check
with a native speaker. I'm under the impression that you
can use it to describe the feelings of a second party as
well, e.g. "お前、めっちゃ悔しがってるやん" or "お前、かな
り欲しがってるじゃん" (both of these get a handful of
google hits)
_
Also I think sense 3 doesn't belong here because it's
strictly about the たがる usage. I can't come up with any
usage without た(い) with this meaning. |

I think the GG5 "たがる" sense is saying that sometimes がる means the same as たがる, but it doesn't give an example. If it only occurs with the "た", then it doesn't belong here, as it's covered by the たがる entry. The xref is probably sufficient. |

That looks great. We could perhaps add a note to [3] specifying that that sense only occurs when a ーたい verb ending is modified into ーたがる? You already have a link to たがる, but there could still be some confusion. |

I'm not at all sure of the POS here. I feel it probably should be aux-v, like たがる. I see 大辞林 has "助動" for たがる, and "接尾: 動詞五[四]段型活用" for がる. I think I can see why, but I feel a little uncomfortable. |

the other examples of がる use you list above (e.g. こわがる) are idiomatic. いきたがる is just a construction. it should be deleted, i think |

1) This is a little bit of a mess. It's often explained as "to show signs of (wanting)" It's a grammar structure so perhaps we should expand the explanation a bit to say it can also be attached to verbs. 2)I'm having slight misgivings about asking to delete 行きたがる since こわがる,嫌がる and はずかしがる are also in edict. |
