Seems like the origin of the term comes from "polishing (stones)", but I 
don't think that sense is ever used, so I've marked it as obsolete for now.

Also the use of 切磋 outside of 切磋琢磨 appears to be relatively 
uncommon so I added a cross-reference to that.
