I think this is worth having as an [int]
for its use esp. in gambling and games of
luck etc. (where "come!" sounds very weird
in English, but "come on!" is maybe ok)
But the entry as it currently stands
doesn't look very good to me... |

I think it's worth having, and I can remove that special xref from WWWJDIC. I don't think the note is needed - the xref is there. |

I don't think this entry is necessary, since it should be handled by conjugation tables in client software. For example, wwwjdic finds a search for 来い and returns:
来い (etc.) See: 来る
It does NOT redirect you to 来る if you search for こい, however, this is an issue with wwwjdic's implementation, not with the dictionary itself. So I do not think 来い should be added here.
====
However, if it is to be kept, there are two issues:
1) this is not a verb, and therefore not vk
2) the second sense is not a real sense (therefore, I have transferred it to a note on sense 1) |

With reference to your comment on my submission for "こい", namely:-
A dictionary can only go so far, esp. with an irregular verb like 来る.
Perhaps a 来い entry could be devised.
I don't wish to be presumptuous, but something on the above lines would have helped me to get to the correct answer. If this submission is not too out of line with such an entry, perhaps the very few oddities in the verb formations could be treated in the same way. Then, for example, if the novice searches for "来い" two results will come up, namely: the simple automatice link to "来る" and also the above entry. If the novice searches for "こい" only the above entry will come up alongside other entries for "こい" and then the novice will just have to eliminate the obvious non-contending entries and then consider the remainder for relevance.
I hope that is helpful. |
