I understand what you mean, but I think it does *mean* prostitution and I don't think it's really a euphemism. 風俗 for "sex industry
(including straight-out prostituion)" is maybe originally a euphemism but it's not used that way now, i.e. it's not politer or more careful
word choice than saying something else, it's just the by far most common word to refer to this. 性+風俗 is just specifying more clearly that
sex is involved, as I see it. |
