There's not really a clear consensus here but it's been almost 6 months now. I'm going to delete this based on arguments made by me,
Robin, and Rene. I'll add it to the 事務所 entry but as I've said, I wouldn't be miffed if it isn't included at all. |

It might be the case that it's much more common in handwritten Japanese than online.

If so, I think that strengthens the case to include it, but it's hard to look into of course.
In general, we have included some pretty obscure kanji forms in plenty of entries. As long as they're properly marked as
iK or oK, I don't think it's that much of an issue. Dictionary developers can decide for themselves how prominently (or
not) they want to display these. |

It would make more sense to have it in the 事務所 entry but the more I look at it, the more I feel it should be dropped entirely. It would look so odd alongside 事務所. I still think we can safely ignore it. |

I think it's OK to include, even if it isn't all that common compared to 事務所, but I really think it should be included in the 事務所
entry. I don't see how this is much different from including a ジムショ reading in the main 事務所 entry. |

there are a handful of other entries where we've taken the approach Jim has used here for this entry, although the examples don't come to mind. i'm closing and reopening again to remove some edits in the queue. let's leave the comment for Jim to respond |

I think we've established this isn't slang, so if we were to keep it, it probably belongs in the 事務所 entry. But for me, the n-gram counts say it all (20000:1). It's little more than noise. |

I'm going to close this and then reopen it to reduce the clutter. I intend to get to the broader issue of handling oddball variants, but it will be a while. I like RObin's comments about ありがーと and I'm tossing in some n-gram counts in that area. It's interesting how common ありがと is. |

i agree, but i don't think it fits in enamdict and we have a history of letting these kinds of things in.
i think ideally all these bizarre orthographical variants would just be handled by some kind of software interface to the dictionary that allows for fuzzy matching |

I still don't think these sorts of uncommon orthographic variants are worth recording, especially if they only feature in names.
Can it go in enamdict? |

Mostly (only?) used in company names.
On the other hand there are lots of them,
I could easily add many more examples.
So maybe let's keep it. |

I don't think we do. 700 is low. I mean, "ありがーと" gets 783. |

Seems to be a slangy term of "office".
