Comments: | * Elab “eastern Japan” sense – it’s had specific Kantō meanings over the centuries. * Move “east” sense down – only saw in daijs, which dicts preferring “eastern Japan” * Also marked “eastern Japan” sense as [arch] – per dicts it’s used through Edo period, but doesn’t seem used later (GG5 marks as 古称). (Anecdotally, mentioned in class, and teacher didn’t recognize it as a word, stating あずま was only used as a name, so doesn’t seem understandable.) |
