In fact, the example you posted was させる, so "make up to date" makes sense in that context, but I don't think as much for する |

Tanaka has: "我々は教育の方法を時代に呼応させなくてはならない。 We have to bring our teaching methods up to date." This was puzzling as it seemed to have little relationship to 呼応.
