| Comments: | the focus should be less on the 「負け」, more on the 「遠 吠え」 if we're assuming this is pretty much the same as 犬の遠吠え (which kotowaza-allguide claims). Daij (and kotowaza-allguide) say it's a metaphor for a timid person speaking ill/grumbling behind somebody's back, not sour grapes. the lit might not be not lit enough? |
