Comments: | I don't agree with (old) sense 2 and I'd drop those glosses entirely. There's nothing in the kanji or definitions about "acting" or "following rules". Looking at examples online, I see two types of usage. The first aligns with 実用日本語表現辞典's definition: "自分自身で物事について考え、判断することをやめてしまうことを意味する語。多くは批判的に用いられる語である。思考停止が起こる理由としては、何らかの要因により、権威や規範などに盲目的に従ってしまうことなどが挙げられる" The second is seen in sentences like "眠くて、思考停止していました". I don't agree with the [col] tag. It's easy to find examples in formal contexts. Finally, a "brain freeze" is something you get when eating cold food. Doesn't belong here. |
