It probably needs to be stated upfront in the editorial policy, but EDICT & JMdict have always catered to a certain extent for E-J searches by including terms which otherwise may not be included. Years ago I explored ways of making this aspect work better, e.g. flagging useful instances of words like "house", which appears as a gloss in many entries. It all got too hard.
In this case the "expl" is probably not needed. |

I don't think this is needed at all. JMdict is a J-E dictionary. It shouldn't contain entries that are merely translations of English terms. |
