All my JEs simply xref to で. I really wonder if they should be merged, with a note about it being literary/formal. at least the first four senses are the same.

Examples: 
1. 人はパンのみにて生きるにあらず、と聖書に書いてある。	
It says in the Bible, "Man shall not live on bread alone."

It has the other functions of "de" as well:

補説中世以降「で」に音変化して現代語に及ぶ。なお、「にて」は、現代語でも文語的表現あるいは改まった表現に用いる。

Is it just my imagination, or is にて used more widely these days, and not 
necessarily in contexts that are all that formal? I just saw it in a 
friend's Facebook post -- a heading for a set of photos:
浦村にて２ヶ月連続の牡蠣食べ放題、大満足。
