Normally 大本営海軍部命令, which parses 大本営+海軍部+命令 would have the abbreviation 大海命, as in the army case, but I suspect that since 大海命 is an old term in Japanese history, the abbreviation pattern was tweaked. |

Sorry I made a mistake on this one. It should read "大海令" and "だいかいれい". Obviously one wouldn't see these words outside of history books, but because every military order was marked with its number and type it's not really possible to read any book on modern Japanese military history without seeing these words at bare minimum once every ten pages. These words rank among the most common Japanese words I read on a day-to-day basis.
For additional sources, if you scroll down to page 116 of the following article by the historian Takeshi Hara you can see a brief explanation of some of the orders.

Both of the previous sources only write the words in kanji and don't explicitly state the pronunciation of the words in kana, but Bob Wakabayashi wrote in the book "The Nanking Atrocity, 1937-38" that "The emperor issued three types of orders: rinsanmei, conveyed by Chiefs of the Army or Navy General Staff, tairikumei, conveyed through the Army General Staff, and daikairei, conveyed by the Navy General Staff."
For rinsanmei this is a sightly different definition though because Miura states that rinsanmei were only issued by the army. |

I'm not sure how to proceed with this and similar proposed entries. I suspect it may be below our threshold of useful entries.
- it's not in any 国語辞典 that I can access.
- the kanji triplet gets about 100 Google hits, and all I have checked are false positives, e.g.
oo "鈴木大海（命）...."
