some of that splitting seems unnecessary as the senses are restricted to expressions that are already in the dictionary. you are right about vt, though

  Comments:
From these dictionaries that I can access online, it seems like 焼く is only intransitive when it is the 文語 form of 焼ける. Should a
mention that 焼く is 焼ける in 文語 be included under this entry?

Rearranged/split senses based on the order in 大辞泉・大辞林 (because I heard they are ordered by frequency of usage). In particular, I
thought the senses "burning something up" and "burning cd" shouldn't be lumped together.

For "restricted to {kanji}", I'm afraid I don't know how to add it. 灼く and 燬く are not mentioned in the dictionaries above at all. 焚く is
only listed with たく reading. I *do* see やく kunyomi for all 3, but that's all I have.

Also, I'm afraid my translations might not be that great. My apologies. It's just that I felt compelled to fix the transitive/intransitive,
and I just thought of adding some information to the entry while I'm at it.

interesting online kanji reference
http://www.geocities.jp/growth_dic/honbun/zoukan-4a32.html

燬く means something like scorch as in scorched earth, wipe everything out.

焚く means almost the same as 焚(た)く; roast perhaps? as in over a campfire.
  Comments:
is [oK] only for 旧字体 and not 漢字 outside the 常用 list? Some clarification on these tags would help... I sent an email
