simply 'vitrification' will do. it covers both meanings. i'm not sure this entry is necessary, as the entries for ガラス and 化 cover it pretty well

Meaning [1]:
機械工学英和和英辞典
http://ejje.weblio.jp/content/ガラス化

Meaning [2] comes from ガラス + 化 lit. change to glass, and it is used in some cases as in the popular culture inside the game Halo where the English equivalent is "glassing"
http://ja.halo.wikia.com/wiki/ガラス化
But it also translates the word glassification in more formal contexts:
 http://www.lowtem.hokudai.ac.jp/plantadapt/glassification-j.html

Moreover in the "Airwave Perm" treatment the term is translated by English sources as "glass transition" :
Original

English article talking about the technology

  Comments:
I am not sure if "glass transition" should go under a 3rd meaning, but the usage is very limited and covers the original meaning so I guess it's fine inside meaning [2].
