Comments: | That's what I would have thought, and that may be "correct usage," but in practice it seems that there might be an overall tendency to use 痛み even for the "damage" sense. For example, I get the following figures: Google n-gram counts 毛先の痛み 1198 毛先の傷み 1008 (about 20% higher usage for 痛, even though it's the "damage" sense) With Google Verbatim, the 毛先の痛み figure is 34% higher than it is for 毛先の傷み. But I don't disagree with the suggested change. |
