how about "to point out (with one's finger, etc.)" then?
otherwise, isn't what you're talking about kind of melting
together with sense 3?

  Comments:
Also used more broadly to refer to the hand of a clock, needle, radar, etc. I don't think specifying 'finger' would be accurate.

  Comments:
the "to point out" sense is
"sense 2: daijr: [4]	指さし教える。
daijs: 2 指などでさして教える。「地図を出して―・す」"
so if it's to be kept, maybe it should instead be clarified as
"to point out (with one's finger); to point to"

  Comments:
The rationale behind the sense splitting is not apparent to me from the English glosses, though it perhaps might be with some further elaboration. However, I suggest basically splitting into "show" vs. "indicate" as in New Century WaEi:

[1][v5s,vt]
to show;to display;to demonstrate;to express (an emotion, opinion, etc.);to give (an example)
[2][v5s,vt]
to point out;to indicate; to read (e.g. clock)
