Comments: | When in doubt, better not to have the vi/vt. |

Comments: | Transitive/intransitive is not as clear-cut in Japanese as it is in English... I'm hesitant to call it 'intransitive' based on our English verb standards. (i.e., given the Japanese proclivity to drop subjects/objects when obvious, does lack of an object mean the verb is being used intransitively or merely that an object has been omitted?) None of my Japanese dictionaries that give the PoS suggest [vi]. On the other hand, GG5 and daijirin also offer for sense 1: 固く契った[恋人/二人] = plighted lovers Also no object. If [vt] is removed from one sense, it should probably also be removed from the other. |

Comments: | daijs example for sense 2 isn't [vt] (though daijr's example is). |
