Andrew Nelson, from whose dictionary this came, was an American. The term "godown" was only used in India and Asia, so many Americans will not be familiar with it. I'll add an alternative.

"godown" is not a word used in American English.  Perhaps a synonym could be added, e.g.,  "godown or storage area within..."
