I've agonized over this quite a bit. As they are both reasonably common, I think it's worth letting them in. They are not that obvious to learners.

Same story, fixed phrase.
形容がない also used – I think の is more common when used attributively though (indescribable scene vs. the scene was indescribable).
(GG5 etc. give various other form – 形容しがたい etc.)
