i'm not sure they're antonyms either.  also, i think the 湯/水 contrast is 
potentially useful, whereas 湯/ひや is not so much.

Are these really antonyms? Hot & cold are antonyms because they are opposites, whereas hot water/cold water are graded variations in water temperature; not opposites of each other.
