Comments: | To quote a correspondent: "... wife (who is never wrong) said it doesn't mean to pray, but to assume the posture of praying, such as when showing gratitude to someone for something. Her point was that it is a physical gesture, not a religious act." This fits the 国語辞典 glosses. The JEs tend to just say "worship", etc. GG5 leads with suitable glosses. |
