suggest we  just go with the 出てすわること。出ていること sense of nikkoku and daijisen.  at least i can understand what that's about

at some point in time we have to decide what we're calling 寝殿s.  mansions, palaces, etc.  i think 'palace' is misleading because it suggests royalty
