yeah, i'm not really sure we call that a 'door frame' in english do we?  i think it's misleading at the moment

Just to be specific.  This is not the frame attached to the building into which the door / window is set.  It is the frame that is part of the door / window which provides the structural strength to that object.

Maybe that's obvious in "door frame" but it wasn't obvious to me.
