<upd_detl>Counterargument: The etymology/morphology, while not strictly necessary, serves as supplementary information that tells the reader not only what something is or does (a task of the definition and/or translation) but how also it comes to do so. Without it, ば seems to come out of nowhere, and though the cross-reference to は is likely sufficient for one to deduce what is happening, they would still need to look elsewhere for confirmation whereas we could simply leave 1 extra line of text here and save them of the task, especially if the reader is not yet particularly proficient and struggles to find a source.
Should these reasons still be insufficient, I rest my case.</upd_detl>
