最近、メディアなどを含めて「外国にルーツを持つ子ども」という表現が使われることが増えてきたように思う。個人的なもやり感はおいといたとして、少なくとも「外国人児童生徒」よりは「外国にルーツを持つ子ども」の方が、よほど好ましい。

聞いたことがありましたか？「外国にルーツを持つ子ども」という表現を
こう問いかけると、「はじめて聞いた」「知らなかった」という方が少なくありません。おそらく、なんとなく「ハーフ」や外国人の子どものことかも、というイメージはつかめる方もおられると思いますが、一般には認知度の低い専門用語です。

明確な定義がなされていないこの用語を筆者が使用するとき、それは、

1. 外国籍である
2.日本国籍（または二重国籍）であるが、保護者のどちらかが外国出身者である
3. 国籍はないが、保護者の両方またはどちらかが外国出身者である
4. 海外生まれ・海外育ちなどで日本語が第1言語ではない

<upd_detl>It's a commonly used "set piece" much more common than other similar constructions, and seems to have become cemented as the most accepted PC way of saying "mixed race" (plus alpha for more inclusiveness). I don't think it's comparable to an example sentence. 

Maybe it should be glossed as adj-f rather than a verb, though.</upd_detl>
