<upd_detl>“The hunter becomes the hunted” is an almost perfect idiomatic translation, so add it.
Also add [lit] tag to the lit translation, and [fig] for the more figurative “going for wool” translation.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>* Add [exp] (explanatory) translations, which *really* clarify things for me.
I heard this used in the “intending to persuade and instead being persuaded oneself” sense (which as per 広辞苑 is the current sense).
The figurative translations are idiomatic in English (indicate a similar reversal), but have completely different meanings (e.g., “going for wool” means “seeking to get rich, but ending up losing money”), unrelated to the *persuasion* sense (I don’t know a good English idiom for this sense).</upd_detl>
