<upd_refs>As far as the readings go, I only see an overlap between 素人 and 白人 in the kokugos (koj &amp; nikk only) for しらひと.

However, the definitions for しらひと【白人】 and しらひと【素人】 are not the same in those dictionaries. The former ("white skinned person; person with vitiligo; albino") is not in this entry.</upd_refs>

I can find some "recent" examples of 白人/しろうと (ruby) on google books and ndl, e.g.  1901, 1904 

nikk 白人 素人 entry:

nikk's 玄人 entry has a 1711 example where 素人 is spelled 白人

wiktionary has the kanji as "稀"
