  Sometimes the giant clams are still treated as a separate family Tridacnidae, but modern phylogenetic analyses included them in the family Cardiidae as a subfamily.

From the wikipedia refs above, "Tridacnidae" seems to be a family rather than a subfamily. I think the correct subfamily name is "Tridacna."

I don't see the second sense mentioned in the kokugos, except in their entries for 七宝. Probably okay to add a [Buddh] tag.
