<upd_detl>I think it's worthwhile to keep it visible and tagged as irregular.</upd_detl>
<upd_refs>smk and meikyo display both みどりの日 and 緑の日 in their headword lines.

The kokugos say it's officially "みどりの日" by law, which is probably why we have the 緑 form marked as irregular.
