<upd_detl>I am proposing this entry because it is such a common expression [a mass of Google hits]. However, it is usually shortened to "良いお年を"; see your main entry below:-

良いお年を; よいお年を 【よいおとしを】 (exp) (from 良いお年をお迎え下さい) Have a good New Year

I appreciate that one can look up the individual words in your dictionary and discover what the basis of the meaning is, but to be able to go straight to your "EXAMINE" and see all the kanji and the meanings would be good.

The existing entry is like the incomplete part of the whole. Maybe, the dictionary should have this submission as the main entry and delete the entry for the shortform. Then a note could be included in this main entry which states "usually shortened to '良いお年を' in normal usage; except where formality is required."

Because of your search mode, if anyone searched only for "良いお年を", they would automatically arrive at the above entry.

The searcher who, at present, searches for "良いお年を" will find the existing entry which has the note that the full expression is "良いお年をお迎え下さい", but then the searcher has to put together the bits and trust that as the non-expert the putting together is correct.</upd_detl>
