<upd_detl>There are some sources on the internet that write it as 蒐場 but I don't think that's correct. 蒐 is an old 
kanji for atsumeru (to collect, gather). The etymology of nuta seems to be related to numa(ta). There's also 
nutaunagi ぬたうなぎ【沼田鰻】 which is a type of hagfish. Fun fact: the act of splashing in a mud pit is 
called nutautsu (already an entry) which is the origin (or is the sibling of) notautsu (!). This was a new 
revelation to me ;)</upd_detl>
