<upd_detl>なし refers to pears, overall.
It is usually used to refer to the typical Japanese variety, in Japan, in exactly the same way that お茶(おちゃ) is usually used to refer to green tea (煎茶[せんちゃ], typically), but is does not specifically refer to it, any more than おちゃ refers to sencha.
The term to use, to specifically refer to Pyrus pyrifolia, what is sometimes called "Japanese pear" (or nashi pear …or Asian pear, Chinese pear, Korean pear, Taiwanese pear, apple pear, zodiac pear, three-halves pear, papple, naspati, sand pear…), is 山梨(やまなし) or 日本山梨.(にほんやまなし)
Hence defining it as meaning Pyrus pyrifolia is wrong.
I see no reason, to treat it any differently than お茶.</upd_detl>
