<upd_detl>I've read extensively about this deck and I
think the consensus is it's extremely unlikely
it had been invented already by the Muromachi
period. Also it's not clear how popular it
really was. The game never died out either but
remains played to this day. I think describing
the unusual composition of the deck is better
than placing it in a specific time period.

Also I think a note might be better than an
lsrc. I'm not sure how well-attested that
etymology is.</upd_detl>

<upd_refs>older version of nikk (on sakura-paris): 「ウンスン」はum sum(mo) ポルトガルか。一説にウンは大黒・福禄寿などの福の神の絵札...
more recent version (on kotobank) skips the "um summo" theory entirely: カードの呼び名の内のウンとスンとによる称。
(the two court cards unique to unsun and not in tensho decks are called "un" and "sun". their values are 14 and 15)
I think the alleged Portuguese origin of the word is just poorly founded speculation that's been thoughtlessly reproduced in various
dictionaries and encyclopedias. The earliest known mention of the game in literature is from the 1680's, long after the Portuguese
were gone.</upd_refs>
