<upd_detl>Ah, I'd forgotten that go stones are placed where the lines intersect, not on the spaces between them.
I saw that 目 has been translated as "square" in the context of chess so I automatically assumed that the same translation applied to go.</upd_detl>

I think it is usually used with 状 or のように than as [2] directly.
