<upd_detl>No, this is not an adverb.
An adverb is a word that can be used adverbially (i.e. to modify a verb, adjective, etc.) without adding any particle.
Words that can be used adverbially after adding に (or と or で) are nouns.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>i don't think that matches how we normally handle entries. the glosses should match the PoS with very rare exceptions, and i don't think this should be handled as one. in this case, it is rather obvious how to change the english glosses into adverbs when you use 交互に, so i don't think the adverbial glosses are needed, and i think it's potentially confusing to suggest that 交互 alone can be translated as "mutually".</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>Sorry, I didn't mean to approve my "adv" edit, although the fundamental use is 交互に. I think the way Rene has set it up works and is our usual practice. We could have a separate entry for 交互に if it would help.
The references are all over the place - GG5 leads with 〜する, 中辞典 with 交互の, ....
I've added an adverbial 交互に entry to my "glossing specials" file to make sure WWWJDIC handles it correctly.</upd_detl>
