<upd_detl>When a Japanese eats a meal consisting of rice, a pork cutlet and pickles, then he thinks of the rice as the main dish, and the pork cutlet and pickles as side dishes (おかず).
But to a Westerner, the pork cutlet is the main dish and the rice and pickles are side dishes.

The "spank bank" gloss feels to me like a second (cruder) explanatory gloss so I agree it's not needed.</upd_detl>

"okazu" is a great argument for us including 
it here, considering how wide that sense of 
the word is. I tried making it more clear it 
doesn't have to be a side dish (to what in 
English is called "the main dish"), though it 
can be that to (e.g. in the case of okazu for 
ramen)

I think "something for the spank bank" isn't 
bad register-wise here. A crude translation 
for a crude term shouldn't be an issue, should 
it? Also it doesn't look/feel like an expl to 
me, unlike "material fot assisting arousal". 
Googling for "for the spank bank" shows this
