<upd_refs>Jitenon's entry says 「三拝」 refers to the Buddhist concept of 「三業」 (respectful actions, words, and thoughts) and 「九拝」 refers to nine ancient Chinese forms of paying respect.
  「三拝」は敬意を持って三回拝むこと。仏教では身業、口業、意業の三業に敬意を表すこと。
  「九拝」は敬意を持って九回拝むこと。または、古代中国で定められた九種類の礼拝のこと。

The medium sized dictionaries (daijr/s, koj) just say 「三拝と九拝の礼。」

I don't think we can say with confidence that 三拝九拝 literally refers to three kneelings and nine prostrations.
I think gg5 might have been taking some creative liberties, so we probably shouldn't reproduce it verbatim.

If I'm not mistaken, 三拝九拝 is literally "three bows and nine bows." Jitenon also offers the other interpretations that I described in a previous edit.

In any case, it doesn't look like [lit] is a good fit for this particular gloss on this entry.</upd_detl>
