<upd_detl>Image search for "けしの実" yields exactly what you'd expect (unlike 芥子粒). Pictures seem to lean toward more "traditional" Japanese dishes, vs. ポピーシード which seems more western (cakes, etc.)

Common on amazon.jp, including package labeling, sometimes with ポピーシード, sometimes not. (I imaging the ref to ポピーシード being bidirectional). 

See comment and older refs on 芥子粒 (comparatively rare for "poppy seed", at least as used in cooking).  Old refs on 芥子粒 also identified けしの実. I assume this was skipped because poppyのseed = "poppy seed" is obvious, but this leaves the dictionary without the "best" entry for "poppy seed".

Especially since "poppy seed" is a single concept to many English speakers (goodness knows I have only the vaguest idea what a poppy flower is, besides maybe from the Wizard of Oz), I think it warrants an entry.</upd_detl>
