most hits for ハーフ are about the biracial sense.

"esp. half-Japanese" as you'll often hear people say ”アメリカ
人のハーフ","ドイツ人のハーフ" etc. or just "あのモデルはハーフ",
meaning they are half-Japanese half-something else and not
just biracial in general.</upd_refs>

<upd_detl>I think the biracial sense should come
first, still. We normally put the most
common sense first. A user literate with
our style would otherwise assume it more
commonly refers to just "half", which is
incorrect.
I see the "from half-blood" note in nikk
as well but I can't help but I don't think
this is actually true. Jawiki has a bit on
the etymology but nothing points to it
coming fron ハーフブラッド

I'm not sure ハーフ should really be tagged
as sens (though I'm the one who originally
tagged it as such). It is to some people,
perhaps, but I think they are a very small
minority.</upd_detl>
