<upd_detl>I think having recent political scandals in 
jmdict would be a little weird, at least when 
the scandal isn't really referred to by  
specific word but just a description that's 
not more than the sum of its parts.

Scandals as [ev]ent is a little weird but I 
guess it kind of fits?</upd_detl>
