All 12 Tanaka sentences use this to mean several/many months The JEs have examples such as:
その国には何か月か滞在することになるはずです. I expect to stay in that country for some months.
何か月も入院するんですか. それは大変ですね. You'll be in the hospital for months? That's awful.
何か月でも好きなだけ私の所にいていいですよ. You can stay at my place for as long as you like, months even.</upd_refs>

<upd_detl>I don't think we should have a second sense. See the discussion on 何人 (1189100). We could create entries for 何か月か and 何か月も.
We don't include question marks on glosses for 何[counter] terms. GG5 doesn't either. I don't like "how long". 
The ヶ月 x-ref seems unnecessary.
I'm very sceptical about those n-gram counts. Hard to believe that 何ヶ月 is so much more common than all the other forms. Certainly doesn't appear that way in web results or on Twitter.
I think we should have at least one visible form for ケ, カ and か.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I'd forgotten the discussion on 何人/ なんにん. This is a related issue with も/か, and indeed all the examples I was seeing are one of those. Yes, having separate 何か月か and 何か月も entries is the way to go.
I'll leave this open until they are created and the sentences relinked.
It is 中辞典 which has the question marks. Both it and GG5 have the "how long" gloss.
FWIW the KM n-grams have the same pattern. Google searches are almost certainly folding them together.</upd_detl>
