<upd_detl>(I just failed this flashcard) In the spirit of 銅像　胴像, this seems to be a mistake/misunderstanding that Japanese people actually make.

Open question as to whether "紅葉樹" is actually a "word" (meaning "a tree whose leaves change color in autumn", or something like that).

Given that "broad leafed trees" are the kinds of trees that generally change color in the fall, this confusion might have a legitimate basis.  Didn't find in any kokugos though.</upd_detl>
