If this is anything like 回転式, this is an adjectival prefix(輪胴式拳銃、 not a whole lot of other applications.) 

輪胴式 appears in *5* wikipedia entries:

We don't have an entry for 回転式, but this is not the common way to identify the mechanism used in a revolver, so I am just going to point at the　回転式拳銃 entry because that is what is available. (回転式 is far more versatile than guns, of course)</upd_detl>
