<upd_detl>"Game theory" is the more common term. "Theory of games" is seldom used nowadays, but originates in the pioneering work "The Theory of Games and Economic Behavior". See English Google ngrams (link in references).

Also, please consider merging this with "ゲームの理論", which is likewise a less used variation of "ゲーム理論" (Japanese Google n-grams: 9228 vs. 95780).</upd_detl>
