<upd_detl>(in spring) could be snipped out and change nothing about the definition, but since this serves predominantly as a haiku image for spring, it seems odd to leave that out. Stabling "in the winter" is critical to the definition, otherwise letting them out in spring has no particular meaning. Not all horses are kept indoors in winter, this is why 雪国 is mentioned specifically in nikk, and in haiku apparently the horses and cows can still see snow in the surrounding hills. This is an event that marks the transition from winter to spring.

Pretty much all google matches are haiku collections. Would be inclined to xref
[see=1222820] (季語 seasonal word in haiku), or to note it somehow in the entry, but I see no evidence that this is currently done elsewhere.

季語としては、【春の季語】に「春駒(春の馬・馬の子・若駒・子馬・孕馬)」「厩出し」があります。

I had to look up the verb "to stable" and see if it could be used this way. Could say "kept indoors/inside/in-a-barn for the winter". Can you stable a cow? Internet says why not:
Barn
A building for hay and other farm products; also for stabling cattle and horses.
