<upd_detl>Worth the x-ref to 吟遊詩人 just for people who come to look up the band name "遊吟", if nothing else.
I don't see any indication that 遊吟, as a noun, can represent the performer without 詩人 attached. It also seems extremely rare outside of the band name, with the kanji out-of-order from the common term(below).
There is a prolific band by this name ("Yugin") from which all the n-grams spring(or nearly all).

Song listing:

not in sankoku, not on wikipedia, and the usual order for this term is 吟遊, not 遊吟 (see: 吟遊詩人).
吟遊詩人 208702 85.4%
吟遊 31168 12.7%
遊吟 4649 1.9% Mostly the band, I suspect. Certainly google only returns the band.
Interview with the band says "This term comes from 吟遊詩人", and means traveling around the country while singing/reciting poetry. That's what we do, so...

<遊吟ってどんな意味?>
伸治:遊吟という名前は「吟遊詩人」からきていて、「詩歌を歌いながら、全国を廻る」という意味があるんです。僕たちは、歌を通して自分たちの想いを全国に届けていきたかったので遊吟という名前にしました。
If you search 江戸時代 and 遊吟, you can find an off-reference to a haiku poet here or there, but not much.</upd_detl>
